Our Story

More Than Just a Building. A Foundation for Your Lifestyle.

Pendle Pods Ltd was born from a simple observation: as our lives evolve, our homes often struggle to keep pace. Whether it's the shift towards remote work demanding a dedicated home office, the need for a peaceful home gym, or simply a desire for a creative sanctuary away from the main house, modern living requires flexible space.

We noticed a gap in the market. Too many "garden rooms" were glorified sheds—poorly insulated, lacking durability, and uninspiring in design. We set out to change that by bringing traditional, robust timber-frame construction methods to the garden room industry.

Today, we don't just scale size; we scale experience, comfort, and aspiration. Every pod that leaves our workshop is a testament to our commitment to structural integrity, thermal efficiency, and breathtaking aesthetic appeal. We source sustainable materials, employ local craftsmen, and oversee every project with an obsessive eye for detail.

The Pendle Promise

Why Choose Pendle Pods?

Our reputation is built on reliability, transparency, and an uncompromising standard of finish. Here is what sets us apart from off-the-shelf alternatives.

True House-Grade Build

We construct our garden rooms exactly how a modern timber-framed house is built. From structurally graded timber to breathable membranes and structural sheathing, your pod is a permanent extension of your living space.

Year-Round Thermal Comfort

We utilize high-performance rigid PIR insulation wrapped in fully sealed vapor barriers. This means incredible heat retention in winter and a cool, comfortable environment during the height of summer, effectively reducing energy costs.

Sustainable & Premium Materials

From responsibly sourced Western Red Cedar and Canadian Redwood claddings to zero-maintenance EPDM rubber roofing systems, we invest in materials that ensure your garden room remains pristine for decades.

A Fully Turnkey Service

We manage the entire project. From the ground screw foundations to the final coat of plaster, electrical sign-offs, and flooring installation. You simply turn the key and walk into your finished space.

Bespoke Architectural Design

While we offer base packages to guide you, every pod is customizable. Want a concealed acoustic music studio, an integrated garden bar, or wrap-around corner glazing? Our design team makes it a reality.

Dedicated Local Team

We don't use subcontractors. Our in-house team of local carpenters and fitters are respectful, tidy, and communicative. We treat your property with the utmost respect from day one to handover.

We have refined our build process to be as seamless and stress-free as possible. Here is what you can expect when you partner with Pendle Pods.

01. Discovery & Site Survey

It starts with a conversation. We discuss your needs, aesthetic preferences, and budget. Next, we conduct a free, no-obligation site survey at your property to assess ground levels, access, and electrical main routing.

02. Design & Quotation

Our design team translates your vision into detailed 3D renders and architectural plans. We present you with a fixed-price quotation outlining all materials, electricals, and finishing options with zero hidden costs.

Design Process

03. Groundwork & Construction

We install eco-friendly ground screw foundations—rapid, mess-free, and concreteless. Then, our team begins erecting the insulated timber frame. Weatherproofing, exterior cladding, and glazing are swiftly installed to make the pod watertight.

Construction Phase

04. Internal Fit-Out & Handover

The final stage includes electrical first and second fix, professional plastering, decorating, and flooring installation. Once complete, we conduct a final quality walkthrough with you, hand over the keys, and provide your electrical safety certificates.

Got Questions?

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about designing, building, and maintaining your bespoke garden pod.

Do I need planning permission for a garden pod?

In most cases, our garden pods are designed to fall under 'Permitted Development' rights, meaning you do not need planning permission. They are typically built to a maximum height of 2.5 meters to comply with these regulations. However, exceptions apply if you live in a conservation area, a listed building, or if the pod covers more than 50% of your garden space. We will advise you fully during our site survey.

Can I use my garden room all year round?

Absolutely. Every Pendle Pod is fully insulated using premium rigid PIR insulation in the floors, walls, and roof. Combined with high-quality double glazing and options for panel heaters or underfloor heating, your garden room will be cozy in the winter and cool in the summer.

How long does a garden room take to build?

A standard build typically takes between 2 to 4 weeks on-site, depending on the size, complexity, and specific finishes of your chosen package. Because we prefabricate many timber frame elements off-site in our workshop, we significantly minimize disruption to your home and garden.

Are electrical connections included in the price?

Yes, standard electrical packages including multiple double sockets, internal LED downlights, and external lighting are included in our tiers. Furthermore, we handle the safe trenching and connection via an armored cable from the pod to your main household consumer unit, providing full Part P certification upon completion.

What foundations do you use?

We champion the use of robust ground screw foundations. Unlike traditional concrete slabs, ground screws require zero digging, produce no spoil to remove, and cure instantly. They are far more environmentally friendly, allow vital airflow beneath the timber structure to prevent dampness, and can even be installed on uneven or sloping terrain.
